Stock Overview

The live stock position dashboard for any inventory item — seven metric cards, an inventory by location table, and period filters.

The Stock Overview is the first tab on any inventory item's page. It gives you a complete, real-time picture of that item's position — how much you have, how much is committed, how much is free to allocate, what is coming in, and what the total carrying value is. Every number is calculated by the server from posted transactions; the page never re-derives a figure.

The Overview tab: location selector, quantity cards, Inventory Value, and Inventory by Location.

Accessing the Overview

Navigate to: Operations → Inventories → select any item → Overview tab

The overview loads showing the current position across all locations. Use the location selector beside the tabs to restrict the view to a single business unit — every card and table re-scopes. There is no date filter on this tab; the Movement tab has one.

The Metric Cards

Stock on Hand, Reserved and Available always show. Every other card appears only when the item has that kind of activity, so a make-only item never shows an empty Purchased card.

AvailableThe quantity free to allocate to new orders — Stock on Hand minus ReservedThe figure to quote when promising stock.
IncomingQuantity on open purchase orders expected to arriveInformational only. Does not affect Stock on Hand until the goods are received.
Opening BalanceQuantity loaded as an opening balanceShown when an opening balance exists.
PurchasedQuantity received into stock, net of purchase returnsAll time, not a period.
SoldQuantity dispatched out of stock, net of sales returnsReflects what has physically left, not what has been invoiced.

Inventory ValueStock on Hand multiplied by the item's average cost; the average cost is shown beneath ("@ … avg")Highlighted card. This figure should agree with the item's share of the Inventory Account in Finance.

Inventory by Location

Below the metric cards, the Overview tab shows a table breaking down stock across every business unit where this item has been received or transferred. Activity columns appear only when their total is non-zero.

On HandPhysical quantity at this unit, including reserved stock
ReservedQuantity committed at this unit
AvailableOn Hand minus Reserved at this unit specifically
Incoming · Opening · Purchased · Sold · Produced · Consumed · Xfer In · Xfer OutThe activity quantities for this unit — each column shows only when the item has that activity somewhere
ValueOn Hand at this unit multiplied by the item's average cost — the unit's contribution to the Inventory Value card

A Total row closes the table. When a single location is selected, a smaller Stock by Center table (Center, Quantity, Value) shows in its place.

ℹ️One average cost per item

Average cost is tracked per item, not per location. A transfer between units moves quantity, not cost, so every location's Value is its quantity times the same average cost. Costs change only when stock is received at a new price — purchases, upward adjustments, and production output.

Reorder Point

Each item can carry a reorder point. It drives the item's status — In stock, Low stock, or Out of stock — on the Inventories page and in the category page's items table. An item with no reorder point cannot raise a low-stock alert.
