Searching Files
One box, searched on the server across the whole business — and it matches from the beginning of a value, not the middle.
Navigate to: Files → the search box above the list
There is no filter sheet on Files and no per-column facets. There is one box, and it searches the whole business rather than the fifty rows on screen.
How it behaves
| Behaviour | Detail |
|---|---|
| Sent to the server | The search runs against every file in the business, not the page in front of you — so a file on page 9 is found from page 1. |
| After you pause | Typing is held for a moment before the search is sent, so a long word is one search rather than one per keystroke. |
| Back to page 1 | Every change to the search returns you to the first page of results. |
| Three fields | The filename, the Reference, and the Source. |
| Not case-sensitive | Upper and lower case match either way. |
It matches from the start of a value
The search matches a value that starts with what you typed. Searching bank finds bank-statement-july.csv; searching statement does not. The same applies to the Reference and the Source. If a search comes back empty, try the first word of the filename, or the document number.
Useful things to type:
| To find | Type |
|---|---|
| Everything attached to one document | The start of its number, e.g. INV-0010 |
| Every file from one kind of document | The start of the type, e.g. Invoice or Journal |
| A file you uploaded here | The beginning of the filename you gave it |
| Every upload made in this workspace | Import |
Because uploads made in Files carry the word Import in both Source and Reference, typing Import is the closest thing to "show me only the files we uploaded here".
