Progress Tracking
How /setup tells you when you can continue, and how the trial strip shows where your first 14 days stand.
Navigate to: /setup, then the strip under the top bar on every page
Trabalance shows onboarding progress in two places: readiness cues on the setup page itself, and the trial's countdown on every page afterwards. There is no percentage ring or task counter on the dashboard.
Readiness on /setup
| Cue | When you see it |
|---|---|
| "Give your business a name to continue" | The business name is shorter than 2 characters, or the currency is not a three-letter code. |
| "Answer a couple of questions to continue" | The details are fine but fewer than two questions in part one are answered. |
| "You can change any of this later" | Ready — Set up my books is enabled. |
| "We will put N things in front of you" | Appears as soon as one answer makes something prominent. The count updates with every tick. |
| "N units" and the plan badge | Locations plus departments. The badge reads Free, Growth or Enterprise from the location count alone. |
The trial strip
Once you are in, a strip under the top bar reports the trial. It renders what the server computed — the trial length, the days remaining and the stored end date — and never derives a deadline of its own.
| Element | Detail |
|---|---|
| Pill | "Free trial". Accent for most of the trial; amber in the last week; red in the last three days. |
| Countdown | "N days remaining", counted from the end date fixed on the day you registered — the same date the platform enforces. |
| Progress bar | Days elapsed of the trial length, in the same colour as the pill. |
| End date | "Expires <date>". |
| Choose a plan | Shown only to the Super Administrator; goes to /upgrade. |
| Dismiss | Hides the strip for this browser session. For an administrator whose trial has ended there is no dismiss — that strip carries the action instead. |
Who sees it: Super Administrators and Administrators throughout the trial; every other colleague only in its last three days; Staff only once it has ended; Portal users never.
When the trial ends
The pill changes to Free plan and the strip reads: "Your trial ended on <date> and you are on the Free plan. Selling, buying and the books keep working; stock, making, jobs, people and the counter are paused until you choose a plan." Colleagues who cannot choose a plan are asked to contact their administrator. Nothing is locked and nothing is deleted.
Readiness and the trial are properties of the business, not of the person looking. The strip counts the same days for everyone in the business, and a plan chosen by the Super Administrator applies to all.
