Linking Sub-Plans

A P&L plan has no rows of its own — it takes its figures from the plans you tick when you create it. Linking happens once, at creation.

Linking is the only thing you do on a P&L plan. Every figure it shows is computed from the plans linked to it; there is nothing to type.

The Link Sub-Plans checklist on the New Plan form.

The Task

1
Create the sub-plans first

Only plans that already exist can be linked. Build the Sales plan, the Expenses plan, the Purchases plan — whatever the P&L should roll up — before you start the P&L plan.

2
Choose Type: P&L Plan, then the year

Choosing P&L replaces the period controls with the sub-plan list. A P&L plan always spans 1 January to 31 December of the chosen year.

3
Tick the plans

The list holds every plan for that year except other P&L plans. Each row shows the plan name, its period, and a badge for its type. At least one tick is required or Create Plan stays disabled.

4
Create Plan

The P&L plan is created, the ticked plans are attached to it, and its consolidated view opens.

If the year has no plans yet, the list reads "No plans found for 2026. Create sales or expense plans first."

What Each Type Contributes

Sub-plan typeCounts toward
SalesIncome
ExpensesExpenses
PurchasesExpenses
ProductionExpenses
PayrollExpenses
Cash FlowNeither. It is listed under Sub-Plans and opens normally, but it is left out of both totals.

Net Profit is Income minus Expenses, for the target and for the actual, computed on the server every time the P&L plan is opened.

You want toHow
Add another plan to a P&L planCreate a new P&L plan for the year with the full set ticked.
Take a plan out of a P&L planThere is no unlink control. Create a new P&L plan with the set you want.
Change what a sub-plan contributesEdit the sub-plan itself. The P&L view reflects it the next time it loads.
⚠️A plan belongs to one P&L plan at a time

Linking attaches a plan to a parent. Ticking the same plan into a second P&L plan moves it — it leaves the first one silently, and the first P&L plan's totals drop by that plan's figures. Keep one P&L plan per year per set of books.

⚠️A linked plan stops showing progress on the Planner home

The Planner home's live attainment is computed from top-level plans only. Once a plan is linked as a sub-plan its card still lists, but it shows the plain Active badge with no progress bar, and it no longer counts toward the Attainment or Plans At Risk cards. Its figures are still correct — open the plan, or the P&L plan above it, to read them.
