Migrating Legacy Targets

A banner on the Planner home offering to sweep targets that were created before plans existed into Legacy plans.

The Planner used to let you set targets one at a time, without a plan around them. Those targets are still real and still track their actuals — but with no plan to belong to, they appear on no list and count toward no total. A banner on the Planner home offers to fix that.

The legacy-targets banner and the Legacy plans it produces.

The Banner

It appears above the portfolio cards, and only when the business actually holds such targets:

27 legacy targets need a home — We found targets that aren't attached to any plan. Migrate them into auto-created Legacy plans so they show up on dashboards.

ButtonWhat it does
Migrate nowSweeps every unattached target into a plan.
Dismiss (×)Hides the banner for this visit. It returns on the next one — nothing is migrated and nothing is lost.

What Migrating Does

Unattached targets are grouped by plan type, currency, center, and year. Each group gets one plan, named "Legacy Sales 2025", "Legacy Expenses 2025", and so on, spanning the earliest to the latest date in that group and carrying a note recording that it was created this way.

When a Legacy plan of that name already exists for the group, the targets join it rather than starting another.

The confirmation says how many landed and how many plans were created — "Migrated 27 legacy targets into 3 new plans".

After Migrating

Legacy plans are ordinary plans. They list on the Planner home with a module badge, they open, they show budget against actual, and they export. Most will read Completed, because their periods are usually in the past.

QuestionAnswer
Are any figures changed? No. The targets keep their rows, periods, and amounts exactly. Only their plan attachment changes.
Can I run it more than once?Yes. It only ever picks up targets that still have no plan, so running it again on a clean business does nothing.
Can I undo it?There is no undo. The targets are unchanged, so nothing is lost — but the Legacy plans stay.
What if the banner never appears?Your business has no unattached targets. Nothing to do.
ℹ️Rename them once they are yours

There is no rename control on a plan today, so a Legacy plan keeps its generated name. If the naming matters, treat the Legacy plan as the archive and build the current year's plan fresh.
