Reading a Plan By Period

One card per period, the current one open by default — the view that answers 'are we on pace this month?'

By Period is the default view on a plan's Overview. It answers the management question: is this period on track, and if not, which rows are dragging it?

A period card expanded, with its metric cards and the per-row breakdown beneath.

The Collapsed Card

Each period is one card, in date order, showing:

  • the period label, drawn from the plan's grid columns — "Jul 2026" for monthly, "Q3 2026" for quarterly, "Jul 15" for daily;
  • a state badge — Completed, Current, or Upcoming;
  • actual against target in the plan's currency, and, on a Quantity × Rate plan, units actual against target;
  • a progress bar and the attainment percentage.
StatusMeaning
CompletedThe period has ended. Still recomputed on every visit, so a late-posted document moves it.
CurrentToday falls inside the period. The card is outlined and expanded when the plan opens.
UpcomingNot started. Drawn with a dashed border; the target is shown and the actual is zero.

Click any card to expand it. Clicking the open one closes it, so you can collapse everything and read the plan as a list.

Inside an Expanded Card

Two or three metric cards, depending on the plan type.

Revenue / AmountEvery planActual, target beneath, then the attainment percentage — green when actual is at or above target, red when below — and the gap as money: "USD8,600 under" or "USD7,200 over".

The breakdown

Beneath the cards, Breakdown lists every row that has a target in this period: its name, actual against target, units where they apply, a small progress bar, and the percentage. The bar takes the same five-band colours as everything else.

Click a breakdown line to open the target row page for that row in that period — pace, projection, and the row's own history.

How to Use It

QuestionWhere the answer is
Are we on pace this month?The current card — it is already expanded.
By how much did we miss?The "over" / "under" figure on the Revenue or Amount card, not the percentage.
Which rows caused it?The breakdown, read from the bottom of the list up.
Was it volume or price?The Quantity card against the Avg Unit Price card.
Is the trend improving?The Target vs Actual chart above, or the completed cards in order.
ℹ️An Upcoming period reading 0% is not a warning

A period that has not started shows its target with an actual of zero, which colours it as Behind. That is arithmetic, not a signal. Read the state badge first.

ℹ️Weekly plans label periods twice

A weekly plan numbers its grid columns straight through the plan — W1, W2, W3 — while the period cards on the Overview number the week within its month. The dates are the same; only the label differs.
