POS Terminals
See every till in the business from the office — which are online, which are holding sales Trabalance has not received, and revoke or reset any of them remotely.
Navigate to: Settings → Security & controls → POS terminals
A till is not a browser with a session. It is an unattended machine, operated by people who have no Trabalance sign-in of their own, in a shop that has to keep trading. This page is how the office sees and controls that fleet without walking to it.
Available to the Super Administrator, on businesses with a point-of-sale module active.
The Fleet Summary
One line above the roster answers the question you actually have:
| Reading | What It Means |
|---|---|
| 2 of 3 online | Counted from each till's own verdict, never from a total minus the others. A till nothing is known about is never counted as online. |
| 1 offline | A till that has stopped reporting. Shown in red — this is a shop that may not be able to sell. |
| 7 unsent sales on 1 till — not yet in Trabalance | The most important number on the page. See below. |
| 2 not reporting | Has never sent a heartbeat — switched off for a long time, or running an older build. |
| 2 status unavailable | The server build does not report terminal status. Named rather than folded into another count. |
| Showing a snapshot from 20 minutes ago — reconnecting | The page has lost its live connection. Rather than restate a stale count with confidence, it withholds the number and says so. |
A till that sells while disconnected holds those documents on the machine itself. They are in no end-of-day figure and no report until the till sends them. They send by themselves as soon as the till is connected again — but a machine that is lost or wiped before then takes the sales with it. If this badge is showing, get that till back online before you do anything else on this page.
A Terminal Row
Each till shows its name, its location and owner, then a health line:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Online | Reporting normally. |
| Last seen 2 h ago | Offline. The time is how long since the till last reported. |
| Not reporting yet | Has never sent a heartbeat since this reporting shipped. |
| Status unavailable | Nothing is known about this till — deliberately not assumed to be healthy. |
| Reconnecting | The page is re-establishing its own connection; the till may be fine. |
Alongside it: the count of unsent sales (and the reason the till gives for not sending, so nobody has to walk to the machine to read an error), the time of the last sale, the platform — Windows, Mac, Browser or Desktop — and the app version. The till you are reading this on is badged This device.
Actions on a Terminal
| Action | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Reset PIN | Clears the PIN used to sign in at that till. You confirm with your own email and password first — the reset is not something a passer-by can trigger. |
| Revoke | Unpairs the device. It stops being a terminal and no longer boots to the PIN screen. Revoked terminals are kept for the audit trail, collapsed under a Revoked (n) toggle so the working tills are not buried under history. |
Pairing a Device
Pairing happens on the machine that will be the till: open the Trabalance desktop app there and use Settings → POS terminals → Pair this device. From any other device the page says so and offers only view, revoke and reset.
Once paired, the device boots straight to the POS PIN screen and counts as a terminal. Paired means signed in until it is unpaired — nobody at the till is ever asked for an email and password.
Unrecognised Devices
When a device asks to join this business but is not yet paired, it appears under Unrecognised devices with its device id, platform, version and when it was first seen. Pick a terminal from the Adopt into… list and adopt it: the till picks the pairing up on its next request, and nobody has to touch the machine.
This is the remote path. It is what you use when the device is in another city.
POS Configuration
Two switches, applying to every till in the business:
| Switch | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Send to kitchen | Adds a Send button next to Pay. The cart saves as a Sales Order draft and prints kitchen tickets. |
| Multi-cashier mode | Each cashier signs in with their own PIN, can Switch user mid-shift, and orders are attributed by name. |
