P&L Plan
The P&L Plan rolls your Sales, Purchases, Expenses, Production, and Payroll plans into one view — Income, Expenses, and Net Profit, target against actual.
Navigate to: Planner → + New Plan → Type: P&L Plan
The P&L Plan is the top-level plan in the Planner. It has no grid and no rows of its own: you link existing plans to it, and it shows their totals as Income, Expenses, and Net Profit — target and actual — for the year.
How Sub-Plans Roll Up
| P&L Figure | Sub-Plan Types Counted | What It Shows |
|---|---|---|
| Income | Sales | Target and actual revenue across the linked Sales plans, with a progress bar |
| Expenses | Expenses, Purchases, Production, Payroll | Target ("budget") and actual spend across the linked expense-side plans, with a progress bar |
| Net Profit | Computed | Income minus Expenses — both the target and the actual |
A linked Cash Flow plan is listed under Sub-Plans but is not counted in either total. Every figure is computed on the server from the sub-plans' own actuals each time the P&L plan is opened; there is nothing to enter on a P&L plan.
Setting Up a P&L Plan
Create the plans you want rolled up — a Sales plan for income; Expenses, Purchases, Production, or Payroll plans for spend — for the same year. Only plans that already exist for the chosen year can be linked.
Planner → + New Plan → Type: P&L Plan, then pick the year. A P&L plan always spans the full year; there is no period or grid-column choice.
Tick the plans in the Link Sub-Plans list. At least one is required. Linking happens here, at creation.
The plan opens on Income, Expenses, and Net Profit, followed by the Sub-Plans list. Each sub-plan shows its actual against target and opens its own page. To change the numbers, edit the sub-plans — the P&L view reflects them the next time it loads.
Use the Excel and PDF buttons at the top of the plan, or the Share tab for a public link.
There is no Edit Plan button, no grid, no per-period breakdown, and no Gross Profit or Operating Profit line. The view is Income, Expenses, Net Profit, and the list of sub-plans.
Most businesses create one P&L plan per financial year. If you re-forecast mid-year, create a new set of sub-plans and a new P&L plan rather than editing the originals, so the original budget stays intact alongside the revised forecast.
A plan attached to a P&L plan still lists on the home, but its card shows the plain Active badge with no progress bar, and it stops counting toward the Attainment and Plans At Risk cards — those are computed from top-level plans only. Its own figures are unaffected. See Linking sub-plans.
