Production Plan
The Production Plan is a manufacturing output forecast — each row is a product, each cell holds a quantity and a unit cost, representing planned production volume and cost.
Production plans are not offered on the New Plan screen. Production plans that already exist still appear on the Planner home, open, accept targets in the grid, and track actuals — this page describes those plans.
Row Source
Rows come from the item catalog — active items of type Product only, with the SKU shown. Use Add Product to search and select.
Cell Mode: Qty × Rate
Each cell holds:
- Quantity — the number of units planned to be produced in that period
- Cost per unit — the planned production cost per unit
The cell displays quantity × cost. This is the planned total production cost for that product in that period.
Example
| Product | Jan | Feb | Mar | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Model A Sensor Unit | 8,840 | 8,840 | 9,520 | 27,200 |
| Model B Controller | 6,200 | 6,200 | 6,200 | 18,600 |
| Calibration Kit | 2,850 | 2,850 | 2,850 | 8,550 |
| Total | 17,890 | 17,890 | 18,570 | 54,350 |
Model A in January is 130 units at 68; March plans 140 units.
Actuals
Open the plan to see targets against actuals. Actual figures come from production runs recorded in Operations, dated by the run's start date:
- Quantity — the units of that product recorded as production output in the period. By-products and waste are excluded.
- Cost — the total cost of all production runs in the period. This figure is not split per product, so on a plan with several products every product row shows the same actual cost.
A center-scoped plan counts runs at that production center only.
The cost per unit in the plan is your budgeted cost — what you expect to spend. It may differ from the weighted average cost the inventory module calculates after actual production runs.
