Bank Feeds
How bank transactions reach Trabalance today — by importing each account's statement, which posts the lines and lets you reconcile bank against book.
Navigate to: Finance → Banks & Cash → open the bank account → Update
Trabalance does not hold a live connection to your bank. Transactions come in when you import the account's statement: every row is posted to the ledger as an uncategorised bank line (for the account's Classification tab) and stored as a statement line (for its Reconciliation tab), safely de-duplicated so the same statement can be updated again. There is no Bank Feeds page in Settings.
The Account Page
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Book / Bank / Reconciliation cards | The book balance, the bank balance from the last statement, and how many lines are still unreconciled. |
| Update | Opens Import bank statement. Importing again updates the statement — it never creates a second copy of a line. |
| Import history | Every statement imported for this account — file name, the date range it covered, how many lines, and the ending balance you entered. |
| Classification tab | The imported lines that still need an account, a customer or a vendor. Nothing is categorised until you agree. |
| Reconciliation tab | Statement lines beside book entries, matched or open. |
| Rules tab | Rules that classify recurring lines automatically. |
Importing a Statement
Drop the statement your bank exports (CSV or spreadsheet). Columns, the date format and the rows are detected from the file; anything that cannot be read is listed as "will not be imported" with its reason — never dropped silently. Optionally enter the statement ending balance printed on the statement so bank and book can be compared.
Each row is compared with the books before anything posts and labelled Matched (a book entry already exists), New (nothing in the books yet — editable here) or To Void (a book entry with no statement line behind it). Counts sit on the filter tabs.
Click Import statement. The rows post as uncategorised bank lines and as statement lines. Large files are processed in the background; the import waits until the batch completes.
After the Import
Open the Classification tab to give each new line its account, customer or vendor — a rule can do this for recurring lines — and the Reconciliation tab to confirm matches and investigate anything open.
The import does the typing. You still review the lines, confirm matches, and investigate discrepancies. The goal is to reduce the time spent on reconciliation from hours to minutes — not to eliminate the process.
A line is reconciled only when you (or a rule you set) have matched it. Uncategorised income and expenses left on the Classification tab are money the books cannot yet explain.
